The Setup
Shruthi and Kishan’s proposal was one of the most meaningful moments I’ve ever photographed—not only because the planning, staging and setup was immaculate, but also because these two are some of my best friends. Being able to capture their New Jersey proposal photos felt like a full-circle moment, since Shruthi and Kishan were actually the very first couple I ever photographed. Everyone came together behind the scenes to make sure the surprise went perfectly, and watching it unfold was nothing short of magical!
The setup for Shruthi and Kishan’s proposal was picture-perfect. Kishan waited patiently at the proposal spot while we coordinated with friends to make sure Shruthi’s arrival was seamless. As soon as she was dropped off, you could feel the anticipation in the air—Kishan was a little nervous, but the moment he saw her, his entire face lit up with pride and happiness. It was the sweetest thing to witness. Shruthi, on the other hand, immediately turned into a crying puddle (in the best way possible!), overwhelmed with joy. Capturing these raw, emotional moments is exactly what makes proposals so special!
Friends and Family
One of the most special parts of the day was when friends and family popped in to surprise Shruthi after their big moment. The joy and excitement on everyone’s faces made this an unforgettable proposal photography session. Everyone was filled with so much love and support for the most amazing couple. At one point, I even handed my camera over so I could jump into a few pictures myself (huge shout-out to Alby for being the best human tripod!). Shruthi again, turned into a crying puddle but it was so heartwarming to see (she even said she wouldn't cry at her proposal HA). Capturing the mix of candid emotions, laughter, and celebration with the beautiful NYC skyline for a New Jersey Proposal is so beautiful!
The Aftermath
After all the excitement, we kicked everyone out for some couples portraits, and let me just say—Shruthi and Kishan are absolute naturals in front of the camera. Their love shines through every photo, making them a dream to photograph. From sweet embraces to candid laughter (and even Shruthi throwing in an iconic “muscle mommy” pose), their NJ engagement photos captured the perfect balance of romance and personality. Sessions like this are why I love being a New Jersey engagement photographer—documenting love stories that are real, joyful, and uniquely personal.
